TOP 10 THINGS TO DO AT SUPERCON
Supercon is a magical place amongst the palm trees where Batman and the Joker are drinking sodas and chatting about Overwatch and hundreds of Deadpools are mingling in the foodcourt. This is Florida Supercon, which is run completely for its attendees. As we are entering our 11th year, we are gearing up for our biggest and best show yet.
DRESS TO IMPRESS
Comic cons. A magical hub where it is more natural to dress up as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles than to wear your civvies. At Supercon, it is not only allowed but encouraged to cosplay your favorite characters! Showcase your costuming skills and you may end up being famous for a day! If you are truly proud of your creation, you can take part in our Cosplay and Costume Contests that run throughout the four day weekend. The Saturday night FSC Costume Competition is one of our most popular events with over $5,000 in cash and prizes being awarded.
GAMING/ TWITCH STREAM ROOM
This year, we will be hosting our own Twitch Channel, http://twitch.tv/floridasupercon, which we will be using to stream tournament finals, special video game events with celebrity guests, and the Video Game Costume Contest! Gamble your gaming goods in tournaments such as Street Fighter V, Super Smash Brothers WiiU, and Pokkén. Free play will be going on all day for those who do not want to compete.
MEET CELEBRITIES
Unlike other conventions, each celebrity guest will take part in at least one Q&A or panel that is opened to all attendees. So if you are unable to buy an autograph or photo op with your favorite star, you will still have the opportunity to ask them some of your most burning questions. This year, Supercon will host stars from Star Trek, Deadpool, Dr. Who, Harry Potter, Gotham, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Game of Thrones and more.
WHAT GOES BUMP IN THE NIGHT
Bedtimes don’t exist during Supercon, with events running until 2 a.m. Get your groove on during our famous raves that have attracted up to 1,500 people in one night. Don’t dance? Programming such as Non-Stop Karaoke, adult burlesque performances, the FSC Cosplay Dating Game, and film screenings will going on all night for all of you chorophobics (look it up).
COMIC ARTISTS AND WRITERS
We are lucky to have assembled some of the biggest names in comics such as artist Greg Capullo(Batman, Spawn, Haunt, The Creech, Quasar, X-Force, Angela, and Violator) and creator of Deadpool Fabian Nicieza. Legends such as Keith Giffen (Legion of Super-Heroes, Ambush Bug, Justice League International), José Luis Garcia-Lopez (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Teen Titans, Flash), and Neal Adams (Batman, The X-Men, The Avengers, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Superman). Here is your chance to catch some of these artists in action! These artists and more will be sketching and autographing at the show. Some even take pre-show commissions.
COME OUT AND MEET PEOPLE
Supercon allows for thousands of like minded people from all over to gather in a space that encourages diversity, creativity, camaraderie, conversation, interaction and fun. Opportunities like this are hard to come by. Try your luck at the FSC Cosplay Dating game and you may leave the show with the Harley to your Joker.
FAN PANELS
Geek out with your fellow Whovians, Potterheads, and Otaku in nearly 700 hours of panels. Panels make up the bulk of our programming and allow for attendees to take part in themed workshops, games, trivia, how-to’s and more!
FILM FEST
From satire shorts to guts and gore the Super Geek Film Fest will be screening geek films of all genres, professional and amateur. All weekend long the film fest will host panels with industry professionals such as Star Trek actress and fan film producer Denise Crosby, special effects coordinators Bruce Logan(Star Wars: Episode IV, TRON, 2001: A Space Odyssey) and Dean Lyon (Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers), director of The Venture Brothers Jon Schnepp and more. So whether you prefer killer robots or deadly donuts, we have something that suits your fancy.
VARIETY SHOWS
You’ve never seen anything like what we have planned for The Supercon Variety Show! This all star spectacular will feature performances by international superstar and internet sensation Puddles the Clown, award winning Mentalist and Kinetic Man Guy Bavli, Hips of Destruction: Star Trek Bellydancers, Noise Complaint: The Cosplay Tap Dancers, Celebrity Guests, and more!
